Abstract

Five current trends in well integrity (WI) for production operations have emerged with significant implications for the future direction of the industry. The increased focus on managing WI is being driven by a heightened awareness across industry, governmental regulatory agencies, and the public of the latent risks and serious consequences of well integrity failures. Well integrity is critical throughout the life of the well beginning with initial well construction operations and continuing while the well is producing hydrocarbons or in injection service, and concluding only when the well is finally decommissioned and abandoned.

This presentation will discuss these five trends, and also propose a dynamic risk management concept that reduces risk and improves business outcomes through real time assessment and visualization of emerging risks and issues that represent a current or impending well impairment or failure. They will also engage the audience to elicit the well integrity issues that they believe the industry faces, and what efforts are currently underway to address them.
