Report for the AMBASSADORIAL/MAIDEN lecture held on August 16, 2012

The theme for the maiden lecture was:

THE FASCINATING WORLD OF THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY

  • The multi-faceted nature of the petroleum industry.
  • How to build a fulfilling career in the petroleum industry.
  • General overview of the petroleum industry, the task ahead, the gains and the pains.
  • Petroleum Engineering and its specializations.

The event held at Lecture Theatre 2, College of Science Complex at the school started at 1:30pm with students arriving on time.

The resource Persons for the maiden lecture were: Dr. Sunday Isehunwa (Faculty Sponsor) and Mr. Hamzat Kassim, SPDC (YP Chairman, section 104).

The ambassadorial lecture was given by Mr. Olusegun Akinrolabu, SPDC (YP member, section 104)

Guests at the event include Dr. Izelu, Head of Department Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Femi Olayebi, Head of Department Chemical Engineering, Mr. Henry Igbagara NNPC (Asst YP Chairman Section 104),Miss Augustina Ovuema, Petroleum Engineering and serving corpers in the school.

Dr. Isehunwa lectured on “The Multi-faceted Nature of the Oil industry.” and “Petroleum Engineering and its Specializations.” While Mr. Kassim delivered a lecture  on “ General Overview of the Petroleum Industry, the Task Ahead, the Pains  and the Gains.” and “How to Build a fulfilling Career in the industry.” All of which were insightful and educating, it had both students and lecturers listening with keen interest and asking good questions

The attendance from students cut across various departments and about 270 students were in attendance and currently the membership strength is currently at 91 fully registered members.
