Job description

The overall goal of the society is the dissemination of technical information rather than generating surplus funds. Section programs should be self-sufficient and budgeted to break even. Thus surplus funds are invested back into section professional enrichment programs. The section treasurer is the chief financial officer of the section. The duties of the treasurer are to collect and disburse section funds as directed by the Section's Executive Committee or Board.

Responsibilities 

  • Collect and disburse section funds as directed by the section's executive committee or board
  • Establish the section’s checking account
  • Submit annual section financial statement form by 1 June
  • Provide monthly financial reports and make recommendations on the management of your section’s cash and reserves at all section board meetings (more frequent reporting should be considered whenever there has been significant expenditures, or as requested )
  • Provides detailed financial reports to the section
  • Processes all income and expenditures through the section’s bank account for record keeping and control purposes
  • Maintain all accounting records, including deposits and payments
  • Reconcile the bank account to the monthly financial statement
  • Prepare annual operating budget
  • Processes section rebates from SPE
  • Perform an annual audit
