History of SPE Poland section

Society of Petroleum Engineers had been establish in 1957, now, the SPE International has more than 100 thousand members - petroleum engineers from 140 countries around the world. Society of Petroleum Engineers brings together experts from firms and oil companies, research institutions and technical universities operating in the oil and gas industry. The Association aims to provide opportunities to collect, disseminate and exchange scientific and technical information in the field of exploration and exploitation of oil and natural gas and other exploited through drilling. At the same time through the program seeks to improve the level of skills and professional ethics of members. Achieves above objectives through meetings, conferences, exhibitions, courses and publications on the exploration and exploitation of deposits of liquids and especially oil and natural gas. Every year is organized dozens of conferences.

Branch of the Polish Section of the SPE (built in 1992) allows members and sympathizers to hear interesting lectures, organized in the country by the Executive Board of the SPE Poland Section, presented by the international experts from various fields associated with the oil industry. In general these are the Distinguished Lecturers - chosen by the SPE, lecturers from various companies and research centers presenting the latest technological developments in the oil industry. It is also an opportunity for contact, discussion and exchange of experience on the most current technical problems and research. It should be noted that each member of the SPE receives a monthly premium under the Journal of Petroleum Technology (in print or electronic) and up to date information on all major international meetings, exhibitions, courses and conferences held in various oil regions of the world. SPE Members have the opportunity to acquire the discount for scientific and technical literature, manuals, guides. Each member of the SPE may be a participant in the discussions over the network belonged to his choice for the thematic group TIG (Technical Interest Group).


Student Chapter of the SPE Poland Section was established in 2001 at the Fuculty of  Drilling, Oil and Gas, AGH UST. The main objectives is committed to enabling students to acquaint themselves with the, wide understood, the oil and gas industry, through meetings with professionals from domestic and foreign companies, organizing thematic discussions and conferences.
