Chairman's Message

Dear SPE friends,

After almost a year of planning and organizing, the first SPE Oslo seminar on Reserve reporting and evaluation of E&P companies took place in Oslo May 23rd. With more than 115 participants, the event was fully booked and the expectations for the day were sky-high.

The seminar program had a value chain approach and the idea was to move from technical to financial considerations done in the process related to valuation of E&P companies. By starting off with a very thorough and educational presentation on reserves estimation and reporting, followed by presentations on auditing and listing requirements, we established a common platform for understanding and discussions around these subjects. By ending the day with an introduction to analytical perspectives from the finance sector and also touching upon the challenges related to inside information, discussion points for the rest of the afternoon was set on the agenda.

The program for the day, including a wonderful lunch with spectacular view, was hosted by PwC. The afternoon gathering with light refreshments in historical surroundings was hosted by Oslo Børs.

The next and final SPE Oslo meeting for the 12/13 season will be a late lunch meeting June 5th on Hotel Continental. Previous DL lecturer Mr. Tim Whittle, Group Technical Authority - Pressure Transient Analysis at BG Group, will fly in to give us a very interesting talk on “The Determination of Minimum Tested Volume and Future Well Production from the Deconvolution of Well Test Pressure Transients”.

This will be a great opportunity to wish good SPE friends a nice summer and we look forward to seeing you there. Welcome!

Kristine Behné Ramsnes
Chairman SPE Oslo
