Guest Speaker at the Fall Section Meeting
Economist, Author, and SPE
Member, David Jacoby, President of Boston Strategies International, will
talk to us about Supply Chain Management in the Oil and Gas
Industry.
David Jacoby has been consulting for 25 years in operations
strategy, of which the last six have focused on the energy industry. He
wrote The Guide to Supply Chain Management (The Economist, 2009) and
Effective Supply Chain Management in Oil, Gas, and Power Generation
(Pennwell, 2012). He taught Operations Management at Boston University
and was a contributing editor at the Economist Intelligence Unit. He
holds an MBA and a Masters in Brazilian economics from the Wharton
School.
David is the founder
and President of Boston Strategies International, BSI, a firm that
facilitates
strategic supply agreements that assure global quality and technology
leadership and meet local content requirements.
BSI specializes on supply chain design for oil, gas and power leaders.
Mr.
Jacoby will present a Technical Paper focused on lessons to be learned
from
past major accidents and how to incorporate risk management into supply
chain
design. The presentation will cover Health, Safety, and Environment
(HSE)
related assessment and risk management tools and explain how to
incorporate
guidelines such as the Formal Safety Assessment (IMO) and ISO 31000, and
regional and contextual frameworks like the Norsok Standard S - 012 for
Health,
Safety and Environment (HSE), into capital project supply chain design
and
management.
