SPE Netherlands offers their Young Professional members a dedicated programme. For those less than 36 years, who aim to be ahead of the game, broaden their horizon or stay in touch with peers from the industry, we are pleased to welcome you to one of our events.

Over the last years our section has seen an increase of Young Professional members, and accordingly an increase of YP activities. The YP community covers the full range of E&P related companies and institutes. Besides petroleum engineers, we welcome all E&P related professionals to join us.

To serve our diverse community we offer a programme with a wide spectrum of topics. Generally the monthly YP lectures take place on the last Thursday of the month (see agenda for latest details). We would like to encourage both students and those with more working experience to attend any of our events they find interesting. Likewise, we also encourage our young members to attend the regular SPE meetings (see agenda for latest details).

In our programme we include excursions, networking events and combined events with the regular SPE and student chapters. We start the season with the very popular SPE YP Petro Pub Quiz, in which company team battle against each other and against teams from the three student chapters. If you like to be updated about our YP activities, please send an email to spe.yp.nl@gmail.com. If you want to have a look what the SPE YP programme is about, feel free to send an email in advance so we can introduce you to the SPE.

The SPE YP Netherlands also takes part in the SPE YP European Technical Series. This is a joint effort of the Aberdeen, London, Oslo, Bergen and Netherlands YP’s to co-organize one-day workshops. By joining forces the workshops, hosted by one of the YP sections, uses the full potential of the shared network. Currently the Netherlands section is chairing the Joint Technical Organising Committee. We are happy to announce that the third workshop in this series is hosted by us. The workshop Economics and Decision Making in the E&P industry, Go or No-Go, will take place on the 14th of October in Amsterdam. Information on all the events of the European Technical Series will be placed on the website, so stay posted.

You don’t need to be a member of the SPE to join our activities, but we do encourage Young Professionals to become a member (link to online subscription). By being a member of the SPE you have access to a worldwide Young Professional Programme and Network, giving you many useful tools for working in the industry. It offers wide range possibilities for starting and experienced SPE members to share ideas, take part in technical discussions, find information on the latest techniques, and best practices for sustaining SPE and the industry. We especially encourage graduating student members to continue their membership with the SPE, when starting their professional life. Remember that most employers will pay your membership dues.

The Netherlands Young Professionals have their own facebook group. To stay up to date, share ideas, see who is attending our events, join us.

Kind Regards,
The SPE YP Board
