Abstract

The presentation will show the potential and development of the geothermal market in Turkey, which currently is one of the most dynamic geothermal energy markets worldwide.
In addition, an overview of the geothermal potentials and the activities in the Black Sea bordering states will be given.
Furthermore, possibilities for activities and chances of drilling industry and service companies in the geothermal energy market are presented and discussed.

Biography

Dr. Rolf Schiffer, born 1964, studied geology and palaeontology as well as basics in geophysics and mineralogy. He holds a degree in geology (applied geology - hydrogeology and geochemistry) and a doctorate in the field of natural sciences focussed on applied geology from the Technical University Clausthal (Germany).
He has more than 25 years of experience in R&D as well as consultancy while working for scientific institutions and consulting companies in different functions as geologist, consultant, project and line manager, business development manager and CEO.
About 10 years ago Dr. Schiffer found, Schiffer Consult. The company acts in the sectors: geology, engineering and observation, hydrogeology, environmental and resources as well as in project development and business consultancy, especially in infrastructure and geothermal energy projects.
He is managing partner of GEO ConsEnS, a network of experts, acting on the development of sustainable energy systems, especially regarding to the Renewables and hereby geothermal energy.
Dr. Schiffer is assistant professor of the Ruhr-University Bochum. He is member of several working committees and is one of the AHO experts of the Federal Government for Geothermal Energy.
From 2011-2013 Dr. Schiffer acted as the secretary of the German Geothermal Association. As expert, Rolf Schiffer gives his support to European and international joint ventures, business and project developments like the Geothermal Group or GREENSTORC.

Dr. Schiffer’s experience, his international networking and his know-how of the geothermal market are sought after in national and international events and projects.
