Trying to meet global trends and academic needs Student Scientific Society ‘Geophone’ decided to take part in global discussion on shale gas by creating this unique conference in Cracow on 7th-9th June. We’re trying to start an event first of its kind: gathering international students, lecturers, and experts in the field of geology and geophysics. Our second aim is to activise local societies and younger generations by inviting our hometown’s high school students to participate.

Our goal is to create an opportunity to broad our horizons and expand knowledge about prospection and extraction of shale gas, as well as its economic and environmental aspects. We intend to share this knowledge with local communities and fight harming stereotypes.

It’s not the first conference organised by our scientific society. We hosted highly successful 2nd International Geosciences Student Conference in July 2011 and organised National Geophysical Workshop ‘Geosfera’ in years 2008, 2010 and 2012. Furthermore, we are one of the biggest and most active student chapters in three international organisations: Society of Exploration Geophysicists, European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers , and American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

We encourage you to become familiar with our sponsorship opportunities. We believe that we arr bringing to life a great new initiative, supporting which will result in two – way profit. We are hoping that an international conference built around the hot topic of shale gas will seem to you as a project worth taking part in.
