The Dallas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers will present “Introduction to Hydraulic Fracturing”, on June 6, 2013 at Brookhaven College Building H. This one day course is designed for engineers, geologists, technologists, operations personnel and interns. It will focus on the components of hydraulic fracturing design and materials, wellbore challenges and environmental awareness. Producers and industry experts will provide overviews needed to understand well placement, the decision tree, fracture design and proppant material selection. Other content will cover measuring success, potential workover challenges and recompletion, fishing and cleanout operations. The day will wrap up with a presentation that stitches together all the topics covered. Two internationally recognized experts, John Ely, President of Ely and Associates and Gerald Coulter, President of Coulter Energy International, will present the opening keynote and luncheon keynote, respectively. Event proceeds will benefit the Dallas SPE Scholarship Fund.
